The Midlife Manifesto

The Twats Tribe, led by The Midlife Mistress, is a community of like-valued people, all of whom are working to make positive changes in their lives by tackling their twats. That might be their own mindset, others’ behaviour and/or navigating the menopause.
Central to our philosophy is the belief that we should only accept into our life those people that are enablers and positive contributors, which, in turn, means that we remove (or minimise if removal absolutely isn’t an option) those that don’t fit that description. It is about challenging our own thoughts and actions in this regard, also.
With this in mind it’s important that we understand what’s expected of each of us as members of the Twats Tribe and consciously sign up to our community values, both for how we behave towards ourselves and others. These are:
- I live my life on my terms, not based on the expectations of others, therefore I commit to the mantra of ‘Being Unapologetically You’;
- I accept that I am responsible for defining what ‘fulfilment’ means to me and for doing what is necessary to achieve that;
- I live my life without regret, so I will think and behave accordingly by neither being nor tolerating Twats;
- I understand that, even in the smallest ways, I am a role model – to friends, family, colleagues & strangers – so I undertake to Make My Midlife Matter for the benefit of myself and others;
- I tackle taboos around Midlife in the pursuit of making the world a better place today and for the future;
- I take life seriously, but myself less so – fun and laughter are central tenets of how I choose to live;
- I accept that physical change and mindset change go hand-in-hand, so I endeavour to work on both;
- I believe that mistakes are necessary and acceptable, but repeated mistakes are not, so I commit to learning and changing as a result of them;
- I know that excess baggage slows down progress, so I won’t be a passenger – either in my life or this community; I will actively participate and encourage others to do the same;
- I understand that positivity comes from knowing that I can handle the bad days as well as enjoy the good, so I will endeavour to be constructive about me and always toward others.
I like the sound of that:
